White Pine Trail Open in Winter
The Fred Meijer White Pine Trail is open in the winter from downtown Comstock Park to north of Rockford. Dave Heyboer plows a six foot wide section of the Trail that can be used for hiking, biking, and running. The other side of the trail can be used for skiing and snowshoeing. The Trail is plowed when there is more than two inches of snow, after snow has stopped.
Heyboer said it’s important that trail users move out of the way for snow removal equipment. To report problems such as fallen trees, trail users can go to the web site whitepinetrail.com where there is contact information. There is also a White Pine Trail Facebook page where you can send a message. Heyboer said it’s helpful to send a picture of the problem. He also said that Trail users who see questionable activity on the Trail should call 911.
