White Pine Trail Open in Winter

The Fred Meijer White Pine Trail is open in the winter from Comstock Park to Cedar Springs.  During the winter, the Friends of the White Pine Trail plow the snow from around the Fifth Third Ballpark to Rockford.  The City of Rockford assists in plowing from downtown Rockford to Russell Road.  A six-foot wide section of the trail that can be used for hiking, biking, and running is plowed.  The other side of the trail can be used for skiing and snowshoeing.  The trail is plowed when there is more than two inches of snow after snow has stopped.

It’s important that trail-users move out of the way for snow removal equipment.  To report problems such as fallen trees, trail-users can go to to the Friends of the White Pine Trail website where there is contact information.  There is also a White Pine Trail Facebook page where people can send a message.  It is helpful to send a picture of the problem.  Trail-users who see questionable activity on the trail should call 911.
